What is KUBB
The total size is 8 by 5 meters. You place the corner stakes at the 4 corners. The king is placed in the middle of the playing field. On the 2 narrowest sides you divide 5 kubbs each.
You need 2 teams. You can choose the amount of people per team yourself. Each team stands on 1 side of the playing field, behind your own kubbs.
START OF THE GAME
One person of each team takes a throwing baton and stands behind the baseline. Then the 2 team representatives simultaneously throw at the king. Whoever's throw is closest to the king may start.
Each team will take a turn in throwing the 6 throwing batons and will try to knock over the kubbs on the other side. After the 6 throwing batons have been thrown by team A the turn will to the other team (team B). Team B must first take the kubbs that were knocked over by team and throw them behind the baseline in team A's court. Team A will place the kubbs (called field kubbs) upright in the spot where they landed.
Team B must now knock over these field kubbs before it may aim at the kubbs (initially 5) on the baseline. If the field kubbs were not knocked over? Then team A will be allowed to come forward in the next turn up to the front field kubb.
The game will proceed back and forth in this manner as more and more field kubbs enter the game.
END OF THE GAME
When a team has knocked over the opposing team's 5 kubbs on the baseline it may attempt to knock over the king. The king has to be knocked over from behind the baseline. If successful that team will be declared winner. If the player misses the game will simply continue.
MANNER OF THROWING
You must always throw underarm and the throwing batons may only rotate from top to bottom or from bottom to top and not horizontally. "Helicopter" throws are not allowed.
KNOCKING OVER THE KING BY ACCIDENT
The team that accidentally knocks over the king will lose the instantly.
KUBBS OUTSIDE OF THE PLAYING FIELD
It is possible that a kubb may land outside of the playing field when throwing the field kubbs. In that case you are allowed to throw the kubb once more. If the kubb once again lands outside of the playing field then the other team may place the kubb somewhere in the playing field. There has to be a minimum distance of the length of 1 throwing baton between this placed kubb and the king.
